50 Stories: 50 fictional and non-fictional short stories by Ted Courtright
Ted Courtright has experienced some amazing things: witnessing the horrendous devastation in Hiroshima with his own eyes; almost being crushed by a heavy landing craft in the navy; crashing his plane into a cornfield while doing aerial acrobatics; risking his life as a rookie fireman to save a cat; running the 10,000 meters in the Firemen's Olympics for four years, garnering seven medals ...
Mr. Courtright was born in 1927 in Glendale, California, which is near Hollywood. During World War II, at age 17, he joined the United States Navy and served in the occupation forces in Japan. After graduation he worked for Lockheed Aircraft, and in 1951 he joined the Glendale City Fire Department, initially as a medic, then as a fire engineer and ultimately he was promoted to Captain. Mr. Courtright retired from the Fire Department in 1981.
