Simply I learned About Her

Today Jesus is with us and we rejoice that he remains with us. There is no refuge but in the Incarnate Word. We speak about Jesus presence in many ways. The author of the book of Wisdom speaks frankly about Wisdom and the knowledge of Wisdom. Did Jesus fear sharing about Wisdom when he walked the face of the earth? Jesus fear was embued with the Love of God. The fear Jesus had is called fear of the Lord. Because Jesus was the word Incarnate he could say “simply I learned about her;” that is, Jesus had the infused gift of Wisdom.

To be with Jesus, unlike the Apostles, is to be with him without  seeing him. “Blessed are those who have believed without seeing,” he told his Apostles. “The flesh has nothing to offer, it is the Spirit that gives life. At any time of day or night we live with Jesus in faith. He is close to us by the Spirit of God. We will understand in heaven how he was so close to us in this life, but now he asks us to live his life without seeing him. “Even when I walk in the valley of death I fear no evil, for you are at my side.” Learning to surrender to the Spirit and to live simply in faith takes some learning. He will teach us as he taught Mary Magdale, “Mary,” he said. “Rabboni,” she responded. He is our Master and our teacher.

Simply I learned about her, and ungrudgingly do I share- her riches I do not hide away.  (Wis. 7:13)
