In the late 1980s Tom Wilson a retired research and development engineer with US Steel Corporation designed a state-of-the-art image processing and computer analysis system using technology already employed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In doing so he perfected a method (based solely on hte physics of light) that could extract information from materials and images that were beyond human visual capabilities.
