Atticus McLaren is back from another trip to Shetland, and this time, he's brought Sergeant Drake Mallard with him. He's anxious to show his friend his home town, and even more anxious to figure out what their relationship is supposed to be. At the same time, Cornelius Smith and Emerald Lemmons would like to figure out exactly the same thing. They decide to take a trip together, though they don't actually go very far. The two of them check in at the famed Edinburgh hotel, The Gothic, but their holiday at the opulent hotel quickly takes a turn for the weird. The two are plagued by strange noises, cold drafts, and sinks that spew something looking suspiciously like blood. And it turns out, it's not just them. Cornelius calls Atticus, and he and the rest of the team come to investigate...including Drake. What follows is a very long night of ghost hunting, with plenty of scares, near death experiences, and a lot of confusion. Is The Gothic really haunted or is something even more sinister going on?
