A wonderful story of a man and his daughter, who become separated in the deep woods of the Blackfoot reservation in Montana.
As they begin looking for each other, they drift even farther apart. The father falls off a cliff and passes out at the bottom of a hundred foot drop with a broken leg. The daughter, who is only six years old, is lost and wanders around, while looking for her father. She eventually comes across an old cabin and meets a very old man who lets her stay the night.
A dog discovers the man with his bad leg and goes for help without being asked. He brings back his master, a Blackfoot Indian who takes him back to the village and begins to help the man. Another band of Indians from the village go in search of the daughter.
The rest of the story tells of all the good that can come out of human nature, and gets rather exciting. At the end of the story, a grateful man becomes the benefactor of an entire Indian village. It is a touching story to most listeners.
