Winter is freeing, and fun, and glorious. On the long nights when I’m able to stretch my legs and stalk for miles across a frozen world life feels worthwhile again. Frost settles on my flanks, my back, turning the dull white fur to sparkling moonlight. Making me beautiful. Not that there’d be anyone to compliment me. If anyone got that close I’d probably tear their head off. I’m quite a cantankerous bear. I like that word, had to look up the meaning first time I heard it.
Summer though, summer is day after day of trapped in this skinny human frame. It’s too hot to sleep the long evenings away and then I’m too tired to do anything much when night finally arrives. The nights are too hot as well anyway, especially when you’re wearing a fur coat. I live in Sweden for pity’s sake, it’s got no right to be this damn hot. I moved here in search of sub zero temperatures.
