All seems safe and well as Gwubbins sets off into the wintery forest with her sledge to look for firewood with her village friends.
But the weather takes an unexpected turn for the worse and a snow storm prevents the friends from finding their way home.

Gwubbins has to use her special intuition, and follows her twitchy witch's nose through the snowing woods until she makes a stunning discovery. The adventure continues as the companions encounter magic and mystery in a magical ice cave with a mysterious underground lake. A breakfast is provided anonymously, and an unexpected figure arrives from the depths of the ice across the lake. The Iceman is quite frighting, but the Pirate Twins soon work out who this mysterious figure is.

The friends need to get home to their village - will the Iceman be of any help?

Themes that run through Gwubbins stories include friendship and kindness as the characters tackle challenges they encounter together during their adventures. This story is a fast paced piece of literature which includes dialogue, allowing the children's characters to ask questions. Thus the story provides smart explanations interspersed with humour, an entertaining combination for inquisitive children.

This story should appeal to children between the ages of 8 to 13 years.
