What is terrorism, fundamentally? It is to cause the general population to lose FAITH in the ABILITY of Government, at ANY level, to adequately protect the Citizenty. To create the belief or PERCEPTION among the GOVERNED, that individuals or Groups can act, at-will, in ways that threaten the daily safety of any or all citizens. Americans habitually over-react. Two airplanes, hijacked, crash into and destroy two buildings in New York City. A total of less than a dozen men are involved with four airplanes. Consequently, X-ray scanning machines are placed in almost all Airports and Checkpoints established (none dubbed Charlie, thankfully). No longer can friends or relatives go directly to the gate for those departing or arriving. And the Terrorist havent won for their cause? A Brit tries to set his shoe on fire ON AN AIRPLANE. The result is that all those going to board airplanes must remove their shoes. And the terrorists havent won for their cause? Someone decides that innocuous bottles of liquid, when mixed in certain combinations, can become volatile and potentially explode. Therefore, a lady whose hair is dyed platinum blonde, has to leave her bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the trash can at the Entry Checkpoint. AND THE TERRORISTS HAVENT WON FOR THEIR CAUSE ?
