All Captain Dick Ragged wants as he is sailing into port is a steak, a woman, and an escape from the sea. Instead, he ends up forced to transport a cargo of bawdy, randy, and oh-so-delightful women across the Atlantic Ocean to America to begin new lives.
Captain Dick knows that getting involved with the crew and "cargo" can never go well, especially when they are set to take America by storm in a matter of weeks. Over time, however, his iron clad will weakens and the women take over, having their way with his body and maybe even with his heart.
This book contains graphic depictions of sexuality between consenting adults. Strong adult language is used and several sexual situations are presented.
Excerpt:
“Is that my hat?” he barked as he saw someone at the wheel outlined in the light of the lantern coupled with the moonlight.
Janine turned and pushed his tricorn further down onto her brow from the back. “Come take it from me?” she said, the coquette hard at work in her offer.
Without malice, he clipped the hat from her head and put it on his own. “Now it will smell like perfume,” he grumbled.
“All the better,” she said, her eyes back on the stars again as she guided the ship through the gentle waters.
“We’ve been lucky,” he said, more to himself than to her.
“Mmm,” she agreed. “I hope it holds out.”
He lit a smoke and rested his forearms on the bow, gazing absently into the near dark. Ripples showed in the water where the light from the full moon fell. Still shaking off the grip of sleep, he felt himself mesmerized by the rocking of the ship as it cut through the water. The wind was still strong, but non-threatening and they propelled along at an impressive speed.
Janine locked the wheel and leaned on the railing (wheels are in the back of a ship) beside him. “Got another one of those?” she asked.
He pulled one from the leather pouch in his inner vest pocket and lit it off the end of his own, then passed it to her. She inhaled deeply from it and blew a fragrant plume of smoke above them. “Nice,” she said, looking at the hand-rolled cigarette admiringly. “You don’t skimp. I like that.”
“My father was a merchant and some of his importers are still willing to speak to me. One of them is a tobacconist in the colonies.”
“You’ve been there, then.”
He winced as he realized the trap he’d walked into. Lack of sleep had him off his game. “A few times,” he said. “Never anywhere I ever cared to stay.”
They did not speak for several minutes, each lost in thought. “I know,” she said, at last breaking the silence. “I know, but they don’t.”
He was confused. “Know what?” he asked, as his mind cataloged the myriad things that could be considered private between them.
