Andrew Lang was a Scottish prolific author, mostly known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. 
“Allerleirauh; Or, The Many-Furred Creature” is a German tale, entered in “The Green Fairy Book” collection. The story narrates about one King, who has a beautiful wife with golden hair. But once she feels ill and, knowing that she must soon die, takes a promise by the husband to marry the woman afterwards, who would have just such golden hair as queen has. In the whole world there is no a woman with such hairs, except the King’s daughter, who is just as beautiful as her dead mother. Learned, that the Kind intends to marry her, she puts on the cloak of many skins, makes her face and hands black with soot and flees away… What destiny is waiting the princess?
