** Leon **
I never really considered the idea that I might have a mate. No, actually that's not true. I never considered my personal life at all. I was a child prodigy. The type that finished high school before puberty even began; the kid at college who pretty much ignored the far older people around him; the computer geek who was way more interested in code and chips and connection speed and four hundred million other things that didn't involve people. That was me. In a world of my own, really.
Oh, did I mention that I am also a werewolf who was taken from my pack and surrounded most of my life by humans?
So when it came to my own instincts, my own sexuality, hell, my own sense of self, I was almost totally clueless. At least I was until I got an unexpected visitor…
*** Hunter ***
It's been three years since the day I met Leon and I still don't know what went wrong. But I don't care. I don't need rejection spelled out. I'm moving forward with my life. I'm making plans for the future. I'm working…all of the time. Okay, yeah, moving forward is still a work in progress, but at least I'm trying.
But when a threat is made against a member of our pack, it's my job to investigate, even when that packmate is the one I've been avoiding. Confronting Leon is one of the hardest things I will ever have to do, but nothing goes the way I expected, none of it makes sense.
Maybe I really do need to know what went wrong three years ago.
