'Amaranthine Historica' is an intertextual cyberpunk thriller that weaves in and out from ancient times to medieval times, to the present and the future. It involves ordinary tyrants, surprising heroes, clones and robots—of the physical and metaphysical variety—and explores the nature of Humanity and of Nature itself. It considers the hubris of evildoers and the newfangled nemesis that inevitably restores the natural order of the world. 'Amaranthine Historica' is set in Amarantis, the ancient multi-ringed canal city-state named after the unfading amaranth flower. Before Year 0, the city trembles in troubled waters—somewhere between the febrile 'Gateway-to-Hell' volcano and the 'Gateway-to-Hell' nuclear terror. By Year 0, Amarantis is a floating graveyard, locked inside itself by its formidable O-Gates! Almost all Life—Real and Artificial—is tinkered and reconfigured. Apart from Nobel Laureate W. Olfus and his alter egos, Jane and Victor, most Amarants are chained to the destiny of lab monkeys. How does it all end? Will machines help humans to survive and fight for freedom? Can the human spirit regenerate or will history repeat itself?
