Self-publishing is the act of writing and completing a publishing work without the involvement of a publishing house. Unlike the traditional method of publishing which involves the help of a publisher, the self-author completes the whole process (the interior, cover design, distribution, price, public relation, and marketing) himself. Talking of Self-publishing doesn’t only involve physical books, instead, it includes brochures, pamphlets, and digital media (e-books, website). The author pays for all the expenses incurred on the publishing process but gains the profit that will be realized from it. With the rapid change in technology like internet and marketplace, writers now prefer to publish their books themselves instead of involving a publisher. The marketplace can be a physical market or online marketplace such as Amazon.
