Texas Ranger Matthew Rivers is happy to come home for his little sister's wedding, even though it means traveling out of his way in an effort to avoid the warring Comanche. He is shocked to find his sister's best friend has ridden over for a visit, in spite of her daddy insisting she go nowhere alone while there is a possibility of being taken captive by the Indians. However, Maize Christian isn't concerned; she doesn't believe the Indians are in the area, or that they would dare attack any of them. Matt decides to escort her home with a well-spanked bottom, and then have words with Frank Christian about permitting his daughter to do as she pleased.

A short distance from her home, they are almost found by Indians as they roamed the area. It is a complete shock to Maize to see that her home has been burned to the ground, along with the barns and the bunk houses where the men who worked for them lived. Her father, Lupe, and all the hands were now dead! When she opens her mouth to scream, Matt does the only thing he can do, and knocks her unconscious with his fist to her jaw in order to keep the Comanche from finding their hiding place. Maize wakes up in her friend's home and decides she is going to rebuild the ranch in honor of her father. Matt thinks she is being ridiculous, and he is positive he is going to need to keep her cute fanny a warm shade of red to keep her safe!
