And There Were Giants comprises two sections covering two generations of the same family.

Part 1 follows the fortunes of Roslin, a young girl who falls victim to a raid on her homeland. She is taken to a far away land by her captors and begins a new life there. In time, she overcomes her fear of the ‘giants’ and learns a new way of life.  However, life is perilous and all is not as it seems – perhaps she was right to fear…. Well that is the story, but this book is also about the human condition.  What it is to love and hate, what it is to have fears and phobias and how difficult it is to control these. It is about intolerance and prejudice and questions our perceptions.

Part 2 of  ‘….And there were giants’ follows the fortunes of the next generation. Set in a time long past, Marte is daughter to Roslin, who was forced to leave her home long ago and brought to a new land. Now we watch as Marte, her siblings and close friends grow up in a world vulnerable to natural disaster and power struggles, both within and beyond their fragile community. Destructive forces are never far away and can also come from within. No one is safe…..
