In the days long before our time but long after the world was made...
When the god of the sea goes ashore, he sires a son: Anio. When beings older than the gods send their servants to take the young demigod's life, he must seek out the help of his father. Along the way, he finds a new companion, Jargus, the greatest and deadliest of fishes. Together, Anio and Jargus protect the Sea from monsters. But their greatest quest takes them to the Ocean, where strange gods have demanded a seemingly impossible tribute. The only hope of a kingdom is for Anio and his steed to lead a mysterious woman and her fleet to the far side of the Earth, where a terrible monster creates treasure for bait. To succeed, the hero must survive the trials of alien seas, put his trust in his deadliest enemies, and perhaps most difficult of all, learn to tell truth from illusion.
