In this context, it has become a topic in both historiography and cultural studies which respectively emphasize the process of cultural memory as well as its implications and objects. As a sequel, two schools of thought have emerged. The first articulates that the present shapes our understanding of the past while the second assume that the past influences current behavior (Schwartz, 2010).
As photographs inhabit an important place in cultural memory which is the link between past, present and future, ‘Antecedently’ digs up the past trying to distinguish between memory and history. It consists of 40 photographs which progressively become monochrome as we leave the colorful modern world entering the era of 30’s. They exhibit different types of everyday activities of a typical household, in essence, following a virtual tour of habits, utensils, and interiors while taking into account the status of women and men. The inspiration and resulting photographs came out of two visits to the fascinating ‘Area Synest’ thematic park (https://www.facebook.com/areasynest/), situated in Aigialeia, at the village of Synevro.
