Ants in the Pants is written to appeal to children ages three to ten. This whimsical and humorous tale actively engages the reader in rhyming verse. The story focuses on a boy who eagerly heads to a family picnic, quickly filling his plate with food. As he is about to take his first bite, he experiences the impact of some uninvited ants which have secretly entered his shorts. The boy then wiggles his hips, struts like a chicken, and twists and turns in his own style of a dance in hopes of ridding himself of the pesky intruders. As his relatives look on in dismay, he tries unsuccessfully several times to free the ants. It isn't until he follows the advice of his old sweet granny who finally tells him the correct way to shake and jiggle out the ants. After several imaginative verses, where he counts out the ants from one to 10, he is able to free the bothersome ants from inside his pants.
