The story of Arthur Racine a cajun man who grew up on the bayous of Louisiana where god and family came first and danger and hardship was a way of life for the hardy people that made a living off the bayou. All the excitement and drama of a vanishing way of life that was at once fulfilling and dangerous for the people that lived there. Arthur's love affair with wife Olena lasted all of his life, raising children and making a living off the red river, the catfish being his moneymaker. He loved to set around the campfire telling stories of legendary Indians and monsters; Bright Star and the giant turtle Thunder, Blood Moon and the Thunder birds, Sky Hawk and the monster black snake.
Arthur Racine and his brother Ramp were legendary hunters and fishermen and killed monsters themselves. A man who knew every day was a gift from God and had an ease about him that him nice to be around.
