After spending all summer out of work, Nikki Haywood can barely make rent and scrape up tuition for the upcoming school year. She’s almost ready to move back home at the insistence of her mother, when she scores a new job at a theme park. Sure, it means singing off key in a huge ladybug costume, but it’s a small price to pay if it means she can stay in Florida with her friends. However, she has no idea that overdue bills are the least of her worries until she meets Liam Payne who comes bearing a warning... She’s the last guardian and is being hunted by the Queen of Amyr.

Liam, a novice djinn, arrives just moments after losing his cousin and is resolved to make sure his cousin’s death isn’t for nothing. But, he quickly realizes it’s easier said than done upon meeting Nikki, a college student dead set on ignoring the power that is awakened within her. She seems more concerned about college life and her new job than accepting the immediate danger she’s in. He certainly has his work cut out for him, but he has made a promise—that he intends to keep—which means protecting Nikki from a warrior queen that wishes to end her. And, it’s only a matter of time before the queen finds her.

To save the guardian from a ruthless queen, Liam must convince Nikki of her legacy. Will he be able to prove himself to Nikki and stop the imminent threat before it’s too late?
