The story is about a teenaged girl who was raised in an dysfunctional home . The man who she thought was her biological father left home to search for a better way to provide for his family as her mother introduced the innocent child to her real father who she never met . It was quite obvious the stranger was someone related to her , Rishona resembled him greatly . The man called her his baby girl as she began to rebel against her mother and her biological father as she became troubled only to join a street gang . Through time , life in her household began to further deteriorate as her mother became incarcerated after an attempted murder . Rishona was adopted by an holy-rolling Pentecostal family. The childless couple was astounded by the child's innocent look , but was unaware of her past . After a few years of trying to fit in with her prosperous God-fearing foster parents , Rishona decided to revisit her old friends in the "Hood ". Unfortunately , her desire to be with her old gang was a bad decision as the leaders of the 4-3 gangster group orchestrated a plan to rob Rishona's new living quarters . Gracefully , the Almighty was on her side . She and one of the thugs in the robbery escaped to the city where she was well kept by his religious aunt . However , Aunt Bea had an live in daughter who was known in the " Hood " for making quick money , introduced the young stranger in her home to robbery of potential Johns.Gracefully , God saved her from the streetlife as she returned home to her born again family to rejoice in her victory.
