Baking Soda Tell-All: Baking Soda Uses including Bonus Section on Uses for Baking Soda and Vinegar When Combined.

Discover the many Benefits of Baking Soda! From Cleaning, to Odors, to Hygiene, Health and Beauty

As a mother, I am overly conscious and even afraid when using toxic and poisonous cleaning products in household cleaning.

Not only can toxic cleaning chemicals pose a threat to your family’s health, the strong fume is suffocating. Plus, that killer-smell usually lingers for such a long time that the house becomes almost inhospitable. Plus, can you imagine serving a meal to your family with an extra toxic ingredient?

So yeah, I switched to natural cleaning agents. They don’t leave any strong odor and I won’t have to worry when my kids suddenly just come into the room, while I’m cleaning and step on the still wet floor. I also don’t need to worry of any harmful substances getting into the food I am preparing. No dangerous chemicals with these natural cleaning babies, plus they are multi-purpose and cheap.

Aside from vinegar, salt and lemon, my household cleaning arsenal includes baking soda.

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate is often a fine white powder and because it is also used in baking, it can be often confused with baking powder. To simply put it, baking soda is a pure substance while baking powder is a combination of baking soda and cornstarch.

But baking goods is not the only use for baking soda; the powder is also a very powerful cleaning and deodorizing agent.

Baking soda’s mild alkali property dissolves grease and dirt efficiently. When the powder is not fully dissolved, like when you use it sprinkled on a damp sponge, it is only mildly abrasive so it’s gentle to use for chrome, glass, steel, enamel and plastic. Most importantly, baking soda is non-toxic, which makes it a very safe cleaning agent, especially in the kitchen. I have no more qualms because I can effectively keep the kitchen clean without putting the health of my family in danger.

It is the superman of deodorizers. The powder does not only cover up the odors with perfumes but it actually neutralizes the odors.
