How do kids learn about the birds and the bees nowadays? From their parents? School teachers? Yeah, right. I remember different and I’m guessing things haven’t changed that much.
Ribald Lee lived in the town of Tooling, in the southern part of the Outer Bluegrass region of north-central Kentucky, in a neighborhood of many émigrés. His family were mainly of English descent and, naturally, his real name wasn’t Ribald. His full name was Richard Baldwin Lee but the first bit got abbreviated to Ribald somewhere along the line. I guess it had some influence on the subsequent development of his character. Or maybe it was the other way ‘round and he got the nickname from his character. For Ribald was nothing if not ribald.
