Adam learns an interesting lesson: there's no need to get mad, just get even.
On Alkya, the Division of Investigation - Other Worlds, has set up a base. Major Rafe Wheaton and Lieutenant Adam Deacon, a linguist, are part of one of the survey teams.
Rafe and Adam experience problems working together, and shortly before the mission Adam offered to transfer. Rafe convinced Adam he didn't want to lose him and Adam agreed to give things another chance.
During a nasty downpour Rafe is returning to where Adam is working near a temple when there's a landslide, heading directly for the site. Rafe yells a warning but he's too late. Rushing to the temple, Rafe finds Adam half buried, unconscious. Rafe looks after Adam, uncertain if there'll be another landslide, as they await the return of their ship. Adam eventually wakes, seeming little worse for wear after the accident. Their enforced time alone together results in some home truths being shared, but is it too late to fix things between them?
(Please note this is a re-release of a previously published work.)
