ABOUT THE BOOK

Peyton Manning is a veteran NFL quarterback, currently contracted to the Denver Broncos. Peytons excellence as a quarterback is a product of his natural skill and proud NFL lineage.

Peyton is the son of former New Orleans Saint quarterback Archie Manning and the brother of current New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. However, despite having to compete against his brother and fathers reputations, Peyton is widely recognized as one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation if not the history of the NFL.

Peytons all-time statistics as a quarterback are unbelievable. He has thrown for 399 touchdowns in his NFL career. From 1998 to 2010 he started 208 consecutive games for the Indianapolis Colts. He has completed nearly 65% of his passes in his career. He has won 4 MVP awards in his NFL career. He has been named to the Pro Bowl 11 times, and was named MVP of Super Bowl XLI in 2007 that saw his Colts defeat the Chicago Bears.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Jeff Shand-Lubbers specializes in absolutely nothing yet still enjoys writing about a variety of topics, including current events, politics, baseball, survey research, technology issues, and anything else he finds even remotely interesting. After growing up in the Midwest he has spent the last few years moving from the east coast to the west coast before again finally settling on the east coast. His free time is spent waiting for the Detroit Tigers to finally win the World Series and keeping up with the endless energy of his 2 year old son.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Born in 1976 in New Orleans, Peyton made his impression on the football world at an early age while playing at Isidore Newman School, a private school in New Orleans known for its athletic programs. While in high school, Peyton earned national high school player-of-the-year awards. He attempted 761 passes, completing 452 (for a completion percentage of 59%) while throwing for 7,207 yards and 92 touchdowns. He was considered among the top three quarterback prospects in the nation in his graduating class of 1994.

Peytons college choice was the subject of contention amongst many fans and college scouts. It was widely assumed by many that Manning would follow in the footsteps of his father, Archie Manning, and take snaps for the University of Mississippi.

Peyton strongly considered Ole Miss, however, he took into account the offers of many other schools, including stonger football powerhouses. He was amused by Ole Misss reminder that he would be attending a top ten school for beautiful women. However, he was also impressed by the tradition of football powerhouses including Notre Dame and the University of Michigan. The possibility of learning under then-University of Florida coach, Steve Spurrier would have made for an amazing pairing of football talent.
