Frank Gilman travels to Minneapolis on business. When he checks in at his hotel, he receives a message from someone he doesn't know. The message asks Frank to meet the sender at a place called The Lido. His first reaction is that the message was intended for someone else, but the further he investigates, the more mysterious the message becomes.

In the distant future, two astronauts are on a mission to investigate the disappearance of a survey team that vanished while charting a remote planet.
