Mae and her friend Carla leave for Mae’s new job in Victoria, BC. Driving from Ottawa to Victoria they explore Mae’s new-found sexuality at every opportunity.
Meeting a couple at a restaurant along the way who are going to the Calgary Stampede, Mae and Carla decide to stop in Calgary and attend the festivities.
Arriving in Calgary in time for the parade, they stay at a hotel belonging to the chain Mae works for. Discovering the hotel enters a float in the parade every year, they decide to attend. After the parade Mae is horrified when many of the hotel staff have been involved in a serious accident.
Cutting short her vacation, Mae takes over managing the hotel during the tragedy.
