Social Worker Sadey Collins has been investigating abuse and neglect cases for Child Protective Services on a daily basis for over 3 years. However, her latest case is tearing at her heart strings. While helping a 10-year-old girl, who reminds her of herself, deal with her mother’s drug problems, the girl in turn helps Sadey deal with her own childhood issues revolving around her father’s drug use and subsequent incarceration. While Sadey struggles to do right by the family she is investigating, she must also deal with her own family issues and stay alive in the process. Sadey must juggle an extremely full caseload with the emotional roller coaster that just entered her life. She does it all under the watchful eye of her 90 lb. hound dog, Bones, whose ability to always leave a trail of drool in his wake and create his own chaos, actually has her questioning whether or not his crazy antics are really creating more problems in her life, or offering her a better solution to her difficulties
