Cassie is a caterpillar that likes to dance, but all of her jumping and jiving has made her tired. So, she builds a bed called a “cocoon.” Cassie Caterpillar is a 30–word rhyming, children’s book that is geared for children ages 0-2. Cassie Caterpillar could be sung to the tune of “Jingle Bells.” Cassie reassures children that even though you can’t see her, she’s still there. In my teaching career, I’ve learned that this is called “object permanence.” Children often cry when their parents leave them at school, because they think they are gone forever. That’s why I created, Cassie Caterpillar.
