I looked up into Sam’s eyes. He was staring at me intently. "I can't dance like Dutch, but I can handle a slow one."
He sure could. Just standing that close to him made my heart pound even faster than the frenzied dancing earlier. Sam was a solid wall of manliness pressed against me. I relaxed into his body as his hand held my waist firmly. He smelled soap and the ocean.
We swayed together, my head resting on his chest, through the entire song. The rest of the club disappeared. The whole world was reduced to Sam, me, and the music. I sighed when the song ended, and stepped back.
Sam kept his grip on my waist, and I met his gaze dreamily. "Catherine, I am so glad we met you."
"So am I, Sam." The intensity in his eyes excited and disturbed me. I was trying to understand what it meant when he leaned forward and kissed me. It was sweet and respectful, just the gentle pressure of his lips on mine, but it turned my insides to liquid.
