Centauri is the second volume of the science fiction adventure in the ‘Reach For The Stars’ series. Ethan Richards puts together a new team to travel to the Centauri star system and explore for habitable planets. Their voyage starts by taking Ching Hu and a Chinese wormhole portal. All goes well at first as they see the new planets with ecosystems never before viewed by human eyes. Meanwhile, Hu gets the wormhole connection back to Earth functioning, not realising how soon it will be needed to save people’s lives.
Ethan, Jade and some of the team explore Chariclo, one of the planets, in detail, finding new plants and animals to study. A geological expedition discovers a closed off cave. Opening the entrance, they venture inside. They stop in their tracks when they see humanoid skeletons lined up on the floor of the cave. Who were these people, where did they come from and what killed them? They detect a virus in the cave and the people on the planet get headaches. They start dying from the virus – all except Ethan. Why is Ethan immune?
Centauri – The fate of humanity is at stake
Jade succumbs to the virus and Ethan races against time to find a cure before she dies, a situation he can’t tolerate. A sample of the virus needs to go back to Earth to develop a cure. Is it safe? Hu races through the wormhole taking the samples back to laboratories on Earth so a cure can be manufactured. General O’Conner paths the way for the cure, but will she get it back to Ethan in time to save Jade from certain death?
What is the mystery behind the virus? An outstanding discover comes to light out the virus and the origins of humanity.
While frantically waiting for the cure, Hu and General O’Conner find a connection they are uncertain about exploring.
Centauri continues the science fiction adventure where ftl leaves off.
