Arguably, this growing relationship has challenged United States' hemispheric policy. This thesis addresses the variables of economic partnerships, foreign policy considerations, and military-to-military cooperation in order to comparatively analyze the relationships of China and the United States with Latin America. In doing so, this thesis expands on the literature and presents the geopolitical issues facing Washington as China attempts to expand its influence in Latin America.
