Sometimes we really need change, something to change around us or in us, to make us happy or to help us move on, or become better. Sometimes that change is just what we needed, sometimes it is only half what we do, and half something completely different.
Winter is taken on a life changing, world changing adventure when he and his family are taken from our world to another one. This is a world where there are no planets, no sun, nothing but the air between floating discs, some of which entire cities have been built, some of which are small enough to build ships, flying ships.
This world isn’t ruled by Humans, in fact, they are at the bottom of the food chain.
Luckily, or unluckily, Winter is changing into something not quite Human. Winter loves the change, she loves her new body, new gender, new identity, easily at the start. She isn’t that much better off though, not with what it looks like she’s becoming.
Winter is called a throwback, as her wings and tail doesn't fit in with what is normal here. She is chained, made to serve the men sailing the ships through in the Aether. She finds herself more drawn to the Imp creatures of this world, and they want one thing... good thing she's growing to want that more and more too.
She has a power now as well, but can she use it for herself, against all this world has taught her, imposed upon her, forced upon her?
Warlords come and go, and so do the tattoos that mark you as their property, but can she find it in herself to accept what she is and find a good life out here as the woman she is becoming?
