“What transpires between us is never to be spoken of. I won’t make you sign a contract, but you should know that if I learn that you’ve shared this information about me with anyone, I have the power to make it so that you will never be able to get another job as long as you live. Is this understood?”
“Yes, Master,” she said, barely able to get the words out.
“Now that we’ve gotten that unfortunate bit of business out of the way, would you care for some breakfast? You look hungry.” The cold business demeanor had slipped away, and Dalton’s charming grin returned.
“Oh, yes, Master,” Rose replied, feeling like she could take on the submissive role if that’s what he really wanted. She licked her lips suggestively and decided to do her best to be exactly what he wanted. “I’m very hungry.”
As if she’d been waiting behind the door for a secret signal, a woman entered the dining room bearing a silver tray with a shallow ceramic dish and a small glass bottle of milk. She left these on the counter and left as quickly and as silently as she’d come in.
Dalton set the dish on the floor by his feet and poured into it a healthy dollop of what Rose now realized was cream.
He looked at her expectantly, but Rose just sat there, unsure of what was expected of her.
“Well, Kitten,” he finally said. “Aren’t you hungry?”
