"Dani is a prostitute. There are no bones about it, no way to sugar coat it, no using euphemisms or hiding the secret, he has sex with men for money. Dani is also Romanian, straight and 19. He has come to Amsterdam, as one of the possible venues to ply his trade. At this time, there are bands of Romanian boys, numbering up to 100, who earn their money in the major cities in Europe seducing older men. They go to Berlin, Munich, Geneva but most of all they go to Amsterdam. They sleep rough; the favourite place in Amsterdam is on vacant boats on the river Amstel, hiding from the rain and the police in equal measure. When they get a client, they might possibly stay the night with him, or alternatively use some of the money they make to rent a room in a hotel. One boy can rent a room and then let three or four more in, so they can all share the bed, chairs and floor and get a dry night and a shower. Hotel accommodation in Amsterdam is expensive and this is a luxury they normally can't afford. One or two of the more established boys have rented apartments, but they are often behind on the rent and are frequently evicted. Dani can never afford the deposit."
Dani is a Romanian Rentboy in Amsterdam. James is a rich man with an apartment in the city. He decides he wasn't company and is willing to take the risk. Afterall, Romanians are thieves - even Dani will tell you that.
