Jenna Harding is a hard-nosed journalist who isn't afraid to take risks, so when she hears of the strange attacks on young women after dark by a mysterious beast, she jumps right on it. She'll do whatever - and whomever - it takes to get to the bottom of this mystery, starting with the sexy young lawyer guarding potential leads.
When staking out the scene of the crime after dark lands her face to face with a hungry, lustful werewolf, she'll have to use everything in her arsenel to make it out in one piece.
Excerpt:
The creature’s clawed hands – I could see that they weren’t quite paws – reached out towards the girl. She wailed again as she pedaled uselessly backwards, kicking clouds of dust into the creature’s long-muzzled face. It bared gleaming teeth at her and a series of growls and short barks emerged, silencing her shrieks into numbed silence. Her wide eyes found me, pleading desperately for me to intervene.
“Leave her alone!” I howled, raising the nightstick in what I hoped was a threatening manner. The black-haired creature barely spared me a glance over his shoulder as his claws dug into the girl’s red tee-shirt. She was lifted into the air as if she weighed nothing. I felt a cold wash of fear as he pulled her towards his bared teeth.
I hurled the nightstick with as much force as I could muster and it struck the creature directly between his hairy shoulder blades. His head snapped around and glowing amber eyes locked with mine. I could see intelligence and a savage purpose reflected in those glowing orbs. My heart skipped a beat. Would it come for me, now? What would I do if it did?
The cheerleader took the opportunity to slam her feet into the creature’s abdomen, pushing herself back from him. The front of her tee-shirt shredded, leaving half of it in the creature’s powerful grasp. She slammed to the ground where her breath exploded from her chest, leaving her helpless and winded beneath her attacker.
With my nightstick gone, the beast seemed to consider that I was no longer a threat to him and he turned his attention back to the hapless cheerleader. But I still had one weapon left in my arsenal – one that no man could withstand. The idea was a desperate gamble and could bring me fatal consequences, but I knew that I couldn’t stand by as this creature had his way with the young student. It was the only way.
