Jimmy and his friends find that surviving the boredom of everyday life during desperate times is nearly as tough as surviving the battles. A stranger wanders into their camp and tells them about a place, not ten miles from where they are, where hundreds have gathered to ride out the storm. Furthermore, the man says that the group is supposedly safe from the National Guard. Days pass and Jimmy and a few of the others decide to go check it out. The new camp has been created out of one of the grandest lodges in northern Minnesota and they are welcomed with open arms, providing they leave their guns behind. There is division among Jimmy's group as some are drawn away from Ken's lakehome in search of a safe haven. Ken refuses to leave and the situation boils over. Surviving without guns proves to be an impossible dream and many will die trying to prove that it's possible.
