The first part of the fourth phase of the Dionysian developmental equation may start off slowly and painfully, but it will rapidly escalate into a decisive act of horrific violence followed by a miraculous Olympian resurrection. Pelops is about to spiritualize his relationship to the autonomous and thus authoritarian aspect of his own material nature. In doing so he will overcome the emotionally depressive aspect of nature and the emotional shadow. The problem is Pelops cannot begin his maturational transformation until Bellerophon completely cedes the maturational initiative to him.
