Distractions of the Heart is a collection of poems, reflecting on relationships, trauma, self-worth, and intimacy in an explicit form. The structure of each poem was designed to give the readers the insight to an experience that they could relate to or empathize with. The experiences in these writings show how one can be easily distracted by someone else in a way that can heal or break ones heart along with exploring the mind, body, and spirit sexually and mentally. Some of the poems are created in a manner to have the readers question whether the person is a part of the heterosexual or LGBTQIA culture as most would argue that all our interactions within relationships arent the same. Through these writings, my hope is to open the eyes of the readers to these experiences and challenge the thought process that each of us can identify with the distractions we all face within relationships and situations in life.
