Reece Wind is an average girl. Her parents are divorced, and every year, she has to go live with her dad and step mom in an odd town called Tredecim. The queer town is built around a dark, mysterious lake that everyone is terrified to swim in. Many people, mainly children, drown every year, and everyone thinks it's just coincidence. That is, until Reece figures out that exactly thirteen people drown every year. Now, it's up to Reece to figure out what's really going on, and the answer is far graver than she thinks. Her best friend Jack is suddenly being spotted at the scene of every murder. Her other best friend, Cyan, is acting weirder and weirder with every death. And to top it off, Annie, Reece's stepsister, accidentally falls in the lake one day. When she came back up alive, everyone was ecstatic. Until Annie claimed that a creature with glowing red eyes dragged her under. So, until Reece figures out who - or what's killing everyone . . . don't go in the water.
