Brer Rabbit, and Peter Rabbit, wonderful characters and stories, but they’re about to be replaced by Dusty Rabbit. This delightful funny story aimed at the 3 – 7 year old group will be the top of their bedtime story list until they are old enough to read, and re-read it themselves.

Dusty rabbit is aptly named as he likes to investigate the shed and also hide there at night time to avoid going to bed. He can never understand how his owner, mum, always finds a way to get him out of it.

Like all the much loved ‘rabbit’ books, Dusty Rabbit will have many sequels in which we’ll meet his garden and shed friends and foes, and also find out how he tries mum’s patience.

In the first book Dusty is anxious to be up and about and tries to attract mum’s attention by thumping and clanging his bowl. When she finally gives in, as the noise is driving her mad and she lets him out, Dusty quickly runs to the shed to investigate. Here he inadvertently breaks Susie spider’s web. She is very angry about this and whilst he is dozing in the sun, she climbs on his back and runs all over his body tickling him.

He finally gets rid of Susie, but is then in trouble again when he tries to run off with one of the biscuits mum has put on a stool along with the pot of tea. It isn't really his fault that the tea pot gets smashed, it’s mum’s for making him jump by shouting at him. He gets back into mum’s good books when Matty mouse tries to steal his biscuit and he chases him out of the shed. Mum is pleased the mouse has gone from the shed.

Bedtime comes too quickly, but it’s no good hiding behind the compost bin because that nasty scratchy broom soon pushes him out.

Oh well there’s always tomorrow!
