Thirteen-year-old Isaac Elmwood actually enjoyed his average ordinary life living alone with his dog and History teacher, dad. He didn’t mind not being real popular, not playing middle school sports and no girlfriend. He was satisfied being a normal seventh grader just hangin’ out with friends. But, this would all change – change drastically – in one single day.
Isaac had no idea that his Dad had kept a secret to himself for over thirty years. A secret that Isaac and his two exploring friends accidentally discover on a simple hiking trip into a cave. A small crack in the cave sparks a chain of events that is so extraordinary – so unbelievable that Isaac and his Dad can barely catch their breath, literally.
Their adventurous inkling leads them through a secret passage over a towering waterfall to a place that’s unimaginable. A remarkable land called ELKADORFIA with strange-looking, but charming people who live in enormous trees, complete with small cobblestone streets lined with shops and cafés. Isaac is especially, intrigued by their school, Oakington, with flying fish in the classrooms, a mud-sliding class, and daily food fights, among others.
After Isaac reluctantly, enters a contest in the Grand Arena he pulls off a feat no one has ever seen before, and suddenly, he is raised to iconic status. As if this wasn’t enough, he now has a crush on a really hot, teen girl named, Jolliana – who has beautiful wings. At the same time, Isaac’s dad, Ben, is equally in awe of this hidden paradise that uses no money and has cars that run on water, but, has to convince Isaac they, eventually, have to try to find a way back home. While both are struggling at the thought of leaving this wonderful, mystical new land, secrets and mysteries start to unravel leading up to a day of celebration that turns into a devastating catastrophe. Now they must choose between their one chance of going home or saving ELKADORFIA from total destruction.
