The First two Books in the Ester Ried Series
Ester Ried
This book is about Ester Ried, a young girl running her family’s boardinghouse largely on her own in the early 1900’s. Her mother being quite often sick, Ester has a very large share of the responsibilities. The hard work makes her irritable, and it is hard to keep her patience with the many people she must deal with daily, especially her bright younger sister, Sadie. Ester often finds it very difficult to keep her promise of several years before - to follow Jesus. Then one day a series of events cause her to take a closer look at her commitment to follow Christ. Is it too late to do anything about it? The First book in the "Ester Ried" series.
Julia Ried
The Second book in the "Ester Ried" Series. Sixteen year old Julia, (Ester Ried’s younger sister) is just starting out on her Christian journey. When her family has to move away from their home for financial reasons Julia decides she needs to support herself. She gets a job in a neighboring town and Dr. Douglass finds a family for her to board with. Julia is struggling to figure out how to view her faith. How should a Christian live and act daily? Should her faith be downplayed in daily life? How should she deal with others that are different from her? Is the influence of others at fault when we go off track or are we responsible for our own choices? Led astray by temptations and the influence of those she lives with, what will it take for Julia to see the light? Read and find out
