One of those resources that God has given to Christians is the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit will lead you, He will be your Comforter, He will teach you, He will pray for you, and He will help you to know the will of God.
After Jesus resurrected from the dead, He told His church that they had a job as witnesses to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. But first they were to tarry in Jerusalem until they received the promise from God which was the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit would give them power from God to carry out this task of reaching the world with the Gospel.
God gives His church the same job today. But too often we do this job which God has given us in the work of the flesh. We rely on our own power instead of God’s power and just simply do the very best we can. But the best we can do is not good enough. Our best efforts will never open a person’s mind and heart to understand and accept what God is saying. The best we can do is just present mere facts that a person will soon forget.
Whether you are rich or poor, young or old, learned or ignorant, if you have been saved it is God’s intention for you to live your Christian life with the power of the Holy Spirit of God working in and through your life and helping you live for Christ. It is not God’s intention for any Christian to just live a nominal, humdrum, everyday Christian life. In fact, if that is the kind of Christian life you are living, you are more of a stumbling block and a hindrance than you are anything else.
This book, which is the first in the series Explaining the Holy Spirit looks at how we as Christians can have the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives.
