The Census of Agriculture reported in 1999 that 14 percent of landlords either made or shared in decisions related to selection of fertilizer and chemicals, while 13 percent helped decide cultivation practices. The publication is timely in view of the impressive development of the methods and techniques with their application to understanding the subject.
