This collection contains two shorts stories, “Victory” and “Ignorant,” with motherhood playing a key role in both. “Victory,” is a story of the lengths a child will go to satisfy basic needs. “Ignorant” is a story of the power of tragedy to reconcile, but oftentimes too late. “In “Victory”, a homeless child named Alex meets a strange older woman on the street. For reasons he cannot fathom, she invites him to a feast at a fancy restaurant. Alex lets his hunger get the best of him and accepts her offer. How much is Alex willing to give up for a simple meal? In “Ignorant,” Olga's father dies unexpectedly, so she feels compelled to visit her aging mother despite their bad history. Olga ignores the storm brewing overhead, never imagining that another tragedy could quickly befall her.
