This text depicts the inner workings of a disturbed mind as observed and understood by the subject himself.
Emotional neglect is not only against the law, but it is one of the most damaging situations that a young mind can encounter. Symptoms will carry over into adulthood and will have a dramatic impact on our lives. Most of us suffer from its effects in one way or another. For this reason this publication was written in a manner that is clear, very readable, and highly informative. It speaks to many readers, both lay persons and professionals, and is a must read for all parents regardless of personal history.
This manuscript is on one level an absorbing case study and history described in a way that the reader gets a sense of this from “The inside out”, with a strong feeling of personal identification and recognition. It is also an insightful reflection integrating what we are coming to know in science based knowledge with what has always been felt experience in interpersonal, cultural, and environmental interaction.
It uses a personal story and inquisitive mind to research into areas like current neuroscience, constructing cogent links to present an integrative view that both moves the reader and educates them. It is a particularly interesting book for these times when as a culture and as individuals we are still largely trapped in, and shut down by patterns of dualistic and narrow thinking. This book will challenge the reader to reach deeply into what is interconnected, complex, and open ended.
Having related a basic understanding of the intricacies of a maladjusted mind, it proceeds to convey a story as illustrated through a 22-year journey of journaling that was initially intended “For My Eyes Only”. As these journals were never to be viewed by anyone but the author, they became a very revealing and uncensored narrative of both misery and insight.
This publication was compiled in an attempt to help others understand the complexities of their trauma. Additionally, this being one of the only publications where the author is both the subject and interpreter, this text would be of great value to those that have never experienced such trauma, but nonetheless know someone who has.
As both a professional caregiver and a patient, the author believes that it is most helpful for physicians and therapists to be emotionally well adjusted. At the same time, it is imperative that they also have a true experiential understanding of trauma. It would be helpful for all caregivers working with the general population, as well as students in medical schools and those studying to be mental health workers, to read these personal journal entries in an attempt to gain insight into that very troubling personal experience.
“For My Eyes Only” is an assemblage of a lifetime of insights derived through incessant introspection, much study and personal hard work, as well as through work with others in similar distress. As a LSW, LMT, and Cht, the author has gained much valuable experience and understanding of the complexities of the traumatized human brain. He has had experience working with disorders ranging from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to Multiple Personality Disorder (DID).
If this would be of interest to you, I would be happy to send you my manuscript for your review. I thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
