Fort Calvary is a discipleship training program that challenges the church (primarily the youth culture) to take steps needed for spiritual growth in the life of a Christian. When we consider spiritual growth, it is clear that we are dealing with the development of a life that is pleasing to the Lord. The Bible indicates that God is righteous, and as followers of Christ, we should always be looking for ways to achieve this lifestyle of holiness. For those reasons, a special emphasis is placed on the reality of spiritual warfare and how the enemy (principalities and rulers of darkness) directs their attention at attacking people who have a passion to follow the life that God wants them to experience—free from choices that will lead us down a road towards destruction. Fort Calvary focuses on the armor of God found in Ephesians chapter six, and how it can be used in order to bring us protection and development in our daily walk with him. Every piece of the armor provides believers with a resource that enables us to achieve our spiritual growth goals. Ephesians 6:1 makes clear that it is God’s armor that we need to put on. Sanctification is the direct intervention and gift of God that produces a righteous lifestyle. That is why spiritual growth and spiritual warfare go hand and hand. Battle strategies and military terminology can be found throughout the Bible, and this book uses many of those examples to depict just how intense we are being confronted with this reality every day. Since the beginning of time until now, Satan has declared war on anyone who desires to live for God to the full extent. Fort Calvary takes Biblical characters (youth who experienced what young people go through today) and shows the precepts they implemented in order to put on each armor’s spiritual provision. According to the Bible, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and success. There has never been a time when what our world needs today is an army of young people willing to rise up to offer society a life that brings them peace of mind for the wealth of challenges they are being confronted with every day.
