Using the same inventiveness he brings to his novels and short stories, Trev Hunt has often found fun ideas to make life brighter for family and friends.
For instance, with a pocket of 5 coins he devised a game of 'magic' for his two young sons, now also enjoyed by his grandchildren. Or made 'Simple Simon Imagination Toys' out of wood.
In 1974, his board game 'Top Club Soccer' (produced and marketed with his friends the then England and Derby County stars, David Nish and Roger Davies) scored the highest overall rating in 'Games and Puzzles' magazine.
But his fun-loving philosophy has always been that games, whilst requiring skill and thought, should be simple by nature, and with these four (all to be played with your own equipment) he has excelled himself:-
3-Cue ~ a Game of Pool for 3 Players
This game came about from a requirement for Trev, his wife and son Andy to play together, without one sitting out 'to play the winner'. And it really works - you actually are each playing against the other two!
Cardinal ~ a card game for 2, 3 or 4 players
Whilst there are many card games, the one most popular for 2 players is 'Cribbage', and Trev doesn't like it! So he set about doing better, has tested 'Cardinal' with numerous friends, and found it also works well with 3 or 4 players if required.
Wingers ~ a game of dominoes for 2, 3 or 4 players
Trev has a set of small aluminium travel dominoes, and devised a game to be played anywhere with just a sheet of paper for scoring. It involves much skilful calculation of alternatives (even more than luck), and can broadly be described as a mix between 'Maltese Cross' and 'Threes and Fives'.
2-T Trivia ~ a game of Triv for 2 Teams or 2 Players
There are many form of 'Trivia' quiz-type games, with some involving a board and dice etc., but this game uses only the cards and a score sheet, enabling it to be played anywhere, even if preferred with 2 separate sets of question cards to cover different levels of ability.
