In the book, the author extensively covers various topics on microscopy in a bid to help the reader master the foundational principles of microscopy. Chapter 1 - 3

From chapter 1 through to chapter 3, the author explains the history of microscopy (light microscopes) parts of the microscope and provides an introduction to light microscopy. 

Chapter 4 - 7

Chapter 4 through to chapter 7 of the book are largely dedicated to the types of light microscopes and light microscope techniques. 

Chapter 8 - 10

These chapters focus on setting up the microscope, focusing and the objectives. Having understood the different types of light microscopes and how they work in the previous chapters, these three chapters will inform the reader on how to actually use the microscope for making observations.
